Crisis Committee 2 stepped back from the conflict zone for a little while, but for a good reason. Five state representatives had to be punished, and what better way to punish them than to make others sing an iconic old song? Knowingly, the chairpersons decided that, every time we will hear “I want it that way” by Backstreet Boys again, we will have to recall this moment from GoetheMUN.
Everybody was reluctant when the song started, but, at the discretion of the board, they all got the feeling and started singing more passionately. However, the most emotionally implied one was the chair Elton Dincă himself, who played the role of an overexcited leader.
Trump also needed to be severely punished. He had to do 10 push-ups in each committee room, but I guess that he didn’t take it as an offense. It was, in fact, a great opportunity to show off his power to the entire conference.
Then, I followed the entirety of the Crisis Committee on its way to the room of the CTC. I left my laptop behind and I opened my phone camera to immortalize the third punishment in a row. All the great leaders who just before this moment were debating upon solutions to gain the autonomy of some Chinese regions were suddenly crouching down, waiting for “Macarena” to start. On high heels or sneakers, they all had to do the dance without raising up. They enjoyed it so much that didn’t even skip the little jumping part.
Back to our business. The chairpersons revealed that China violated the Hong Kong autonomy once again. Boris Johnson exposed his view on this with great confidence. “Through this, Chinese showed their true color. Did they disturb me? Not at all”. “We suspected that something wasn’t fine with China. Now we should step up together”, added Angela Merkel. Joshua Wong, in an attempt to highlight the wrongness of the situation, said that “the conflict will continue even if a democratic country wouldn’t have to fight for its democracy”.
I left the room when they just started making up a new agreement between Hong Kong and China, one that will hopefully contribute to restoring the lost peace.
