One of the most important parts of MUN conferences are the photographers, that sometimes go unnoticed by the delegates because they are so preoccupied with the debates. Even though they aren’t considered a focal point in the event, they are the only ones that give the conference a sense of eternity by capturing every beautiful moment. We decided that, along with the staff members, they should be given a more prominent voice in the first edition of the GoetheMUN newspaper, so we asked them some questions about photography and their artistic perspective regarding the MUNs.

  1. What do you like the most about being a photographer at MUNs?

The majority of the press corp told us about how they love socializing and practicing their artistic skills. They view this event as a challenge because of the different lighting in each room and because of other obstacles that they wouldn’t encounter under normal circumstances.

  1. Why did you choose to be a photographer?

The artists stated that this wasn’t exactly a choice as it was a feeling of love and passion that wouldn’t let their hearts pick otherwise.

  1. What is the artistic side of capturing formal debates?

The photographers said the artistic side is actually the most challenging part of their job, yet it’s also the most beautiful one. Their task is focused on not only capturing people in general, but also the atmosphere and the genuine raw emotion of every single moment. They are fascinated by the impact a well-taken picture can have, giving the famous saying “A picture is worth a thousand words” meaning.

  1. What is your artistic vision on the MUN conferences?

The members showed us a peek of their talent and passion by telling us they are simply an intermediary between their art and the observers. With every picture taken, they wish to tell a story and to transpose the true meaning of the event: Think, Act, Debate.
